CAPTAIN AMERICA 3: CIVIL WAR COULD SET THE GROUNDS FOR THE 1ST LEGACY HERO FOR THE MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE

Newsarama reports (read the article here) that the next Captain America movie will be based off of the event comic CIVIL WAR which pitted Iron Man Vs, Captain America on the issue of hero registration. Iron Man thinks it's a good idea and leads a team of heroes against Captain America and his team of heroes who are resistant to the idea and think that the govermebnt is attacking their civil liberties. The book was very reflective of the Post-9/11 atmosphere of the United States.

Disney and Marvel are in negotiations with Robert Downey Jr. to play Tony Stark/Iron Man. Chris Evans is already signed on to play Captain America. Most movie and comic book pundits will talk about how Iron Man vs. Captain America will stack up against Batman vs. Superman in 2016 but I'd rather look at another aspect of the CIVIL WAR showdown.

This movie could give Marvel its first opportunity to create a legacy hero. If the movie follows the course of the comic book then at the end, Captain America is assassinated and someone has to take the place of Steve Rogers. In the comics, it is the Winter Soldier. His character was introduced in the cinematic universe in Captain America 2.

Also introduced was Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie. In the current continuity of the Captain America comic Falcon will replace Steve Rogers when he gets drained of the Super Soldier serum by the Nail. This gives Marvel two characters to assume the mantle of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic universe. It also gives them a chance to have a legacy character which no other franchise can make a claim to at the moment.

The next Captain America movie could change cinematic superheroes as we know them and show how Marvel has built their movie universe so supremely over any other studio.
