R.I.P. PATRICE O'NEAL

According to an article in the Washington Post (which you can read at this LINK), Patrice O'Neal died yesterday. The Comedian was 41. Patrice suffered a stroke last month and was unable to speak. He died from complications from the stroke he suffered.

Patrice O' Neal was a great talent. Anyone who watched his stand up special, "Elephant In The Room" or his segment on "The Roast of Charlie Sheen" knows how incredibly talented he was.

Good comedians can make you laugh at a joke. Great comedians can make you laugh and think about life as they state their observations on life. Like Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and D.L. Hughley, Patrice O'Neal was a great comedian.

RIP Patrice. Your brilliant mind and wonderful talent will never be forgotten.

DWTS: GOODBYE TO MAKS AND HOPE

So, Last night Hope and Maks got booted off Dancing with The Stars. It was no surprise. Hope came in with the lowest score at 49. Ever since last week, you could tell they developed an attitude that said,  "F' THE WORLD"  and accepted their fate.

Also she and Maks did challenge the judges on their scores and that was fun to watch.  I want to know when did Carrie Ann, Bruno, and Len become so revered that someone can't disagree with them?

I loved Hope and Maks because they said what they felt despite the judge's criticism. Hope worked hard and did a lot. She may not have been the most graceful dancer like J.R. or Ricki but you knew she gave it her all.  CONGRATS Hope!!! You are a true Champion.

Why is there a picture of Cheryl Burke on this blog you might ask?

Can you give me a reason why there shouldn't be?

I love Cheryl. She's as gorgeous and sexy as Halle Berry and can dance like Ginger Rogers. Hallelujah. Amen.

MY 3 FAVORITE NWA CHAMPIONS

A couple of weeks ago I listed my three favorite Intercontinental champions. Now I will list my three favorite NWA Champions:

1. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair

The "Nature Boy" has been a World Champion 16 times. Seven Times he was the NWA champion before Jim Crockett Promotions was bought by Ted Turner and became WCW. He had classic feuds with Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, Terry Funk, Lex Luger and Sting during the 1980's which cemented his legacy as arguably the greatest champion in the history of wrestling.

2. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat

In February 1989, Ricky Steamboat beat Ric Flair for the NWA Championship. This was two years after his amazing  performance at Wrestlemania 3 where he beat "Macho Man" Randy Savage for the Intercontinental title and became a superstar. Ricky and Ric Flair would have a heated feud over the title resulting in 3 tremendous televised matches for WCW. With his heart and determination, Ricky Steamboat was a great champion no matter what title he held. In May of 1989, Steamboat lost the title to Flair but their impact on the sport is still felt today.

3. STING

Related image

Sting beat Ric Flair for the NWA World title in July 1990 at the Great American Bash. Since then he is a multi-time World champion defeating opponents such as Vader, Sid Vicious, Lex Luger, Ric Flair, and Hulk Hogan. His first world title reign cemented Sting as the Franchise player in WCW and as a major star in the wrestling industry.

With WWE and TNA switching champions like we change socks, it's nice to look at 3 wrestlers that made the World title mean something in an era when wrestling was fun and exciting.

JIM LEE DESIGNS A NEW DARKSEID

DC Comics is introducing a new version of Darkseid, the ruler of Apokolips (you can read the full story at this LINK). This evil god is one of Superman's greatest opponents.

This new design by Jim Lee looks powerful and menacing.

R.I.P JOE FRAZIER

Image result for joe frazier

Joe Frazier has died after a short battle with liver cancer. He was 67. The former two-time World Heavyweight Champion cemented his legacy in his epic fights with Muhammad Ali.

After he retired in the 80's he also was a special guest referee at NWA Starrcade'85 for Ric Flair vs. Dusty Rhodes and he was in the corner of Mr. T when he fought Rowdy Roddy Piper at Wrestlemania 2 in a boxing match. He also made a special guest appearance in the original "Rocky" movie.

Joe Frazier was a hero in a time when boxing was the sport of kings. He will be greatly missed.

CNN has a great article on the champion that you can read at this LINK.

BOBBY ROODE IS THE NEW TNA WORLD CHAMPION

This past Thursday on TNA IMPACT Bobby Roode became the new World Champion. During a great match with his former tag-team partner, James Storm, Roode picked up Storm's beer bottle and smashed him over the head while the referee was down from getting squashed earlier.

This action turned Roode heel and will probably be explained as an act of jealousy or a "need" to be the World Champion.

I think the angle was rushed but with Storm out with a concussion and Kurt Angle out with an injury and training for the olympics, TNA needed new blood at the top.

I like Bobby Roode and I think he'll be a good champion whether he's a heel or a face. I hope they give him a good moniker like, "The Franchise" just to show off his new cocky attitude. I'll be tuning in to Impact to see what the new champ has to say.

YOU CAN'T STOP CHARLIE SHEEN

According to an article in the NY DAILY NEWS which you can read at this LINK, Charlie Sheen is returning to TV. Sheen will star in "Anger Management."

FX will air the series and it will begin production in 2012 and begin airing in the Summer. I think this will present Charlie with a new challenge and hopefully another successful sitcom. It will be tough to top the success of "TWO AND A HALF MEN" but I think Charlie can do it.
