TNT TO SHOOT PILOT FOR TITANS TV SHOW IN 2015

THE NEW TEEN TITANS CIRCA 1980'S

Bleeding Cool reports(read the article here) that Geoff Johns, DC Comics Chief Creative Officer, confirmed on his Twitter that TNT will shoot a pilot for the Titans TV show in 2015. The show will be an hour long drama that would feature Robin (Dick Grayson), Starfire, and Raven.

The premise would be that Robin will start his own group called the "Titans" feeling the need to get out of Batman's shadow. This same premise was used in the 1980's book "The New Teen Titans" and was very successful for DC Comics during that time period.

TNT joins the list of networks that are using comic book based properties as TV shows. The CW has Arrow and Flash. ABC has Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and FOX has Gotham. CBS will have a Supergirl TV show in 2015 as well.

I hope that since Titans is on cable that they will be able to go further with their storylines and content than other shows that are on network TV. I'm looking forward to seeing the results in 2015.

CM PUNK JOINS UFC

CM PUNK

CM Punk, former WWE Superstar, announced that he is joining the UFC on Saturday. According to Wrestlezone (read the article here).  Punk has trained in MMA with the Gracie family so he has some experience in MMA.

Punk says he plans to make his debut in 2015 either as a welterweight or middleweight. I'm sure Punk will have no shortage of challengers as he has great name identity from WWE and is a newcomer to the sport. Many fighters may target him because they feel that he is getting into the
UFC in an easy fashion and doesn't have to earn a spot.

Either way this is a smart move by the UFC and Dana White. Whether Punk wins or loses in UFC, fans of wrestling and MMA will tune in to see it.

I wish him well and hope that it all works out for him.

STING DEBUTS AT SURVIVOR SERIES

STING AND TRIPLE H FACE OFF AT SURVIVOR SERIES

CagesideSeats reports (read the article here) that last night Sting debuted at Survivor Series helping John Cena and his team defeat the Authority. The Stinger laid out Triple H and helped Dolph Ziggler defeat Seth Rollins making Ziggler the sole survivor of Team Cena and the match itself.

Now that Sting has made his official debut, the question remains whether WWE will use him as an active wrestler or a part-time attraction similar to the Undertaker's schedule the last few years.

WWE may also be setting up an opponent for Sting as The Big Show turned on Team Cena and knocked out John Cena leading to his elimination and Big Show joining the Authority. Big Show and Sting have a history going all the way back to WCW. It could be a match built for WrestleMania.

THE BIG SHOW

Sting is now in WWE. I'm happy and sad at the same time. I'm happy for Sting who'll end his career somewhere where he can receive all the accolades he deserves for making the sport what it is today. I'm sad because in my heart Sting was WCW and it feels weird seeing him in WWE.

As a fan I wish him well and can't wait to see what he does in WWE.

KATE UPTON GOES TO WAR IN GAME OF WAR

KATE UPTON AS ATHENA FOR FIRE AGE'S GAME OF WAR

Kate Upton is a goddess. Any reader of Sports Illustrated could tell you that but now she really is. Kate Upton is the new spokesperson for Fire Age's Game of War videogame reports adweek (read the article here). Upton is playing Athena, goddess of war in the commercial campaign. She is also an avatar in the game as Athena.

Dreams really do come true.

R.I.P. GLEN A. LARSON

Glen A. Larson, creator of such classic TV shows like Magnum P.I., Knight Rider, The Six Million Dollar Man, and Quincy M.E. has died. He was 77 years old.

I write this blog post as a fan and aspiring writer who grew up on the aforementioned shows not knowing as a 6 year old watching those shows that he would influence what I wanted to do as an adult.

Thank you Mr. Larson. Your shows inspired and entertained me. I hope that one day I can do that for someone else.

CM PUNK AND MARVEL TEAM UP ON THOR

CM PUNK

CM PUNK is not only the best in the world but he can also add another credential to his resume: MARVEL writer. COMIC BOOK REOURCES (read the article here) reports that Punk will write a story for Thor: Annual #1. According to Punk in an interview with Marvel's website (read the interview here) the story will revolve around Thor as a teenager who is frustrated because his father won't give him Mjolnir, the hammer.

This is CM Punk's first time writing a comic so Marvel has sent him some scripts to get him familiar with the "Marvel method" of writing a script.

THOR

Since Punk left WWE shortly before WrestleMania 30, he has kept a low profile. He did marry current WWE Diva, A.J. Lee and has been appearing at baseball games in Chicago.

THOR: Annual #1 should come out in 2015 and I wish Punk good luck with his story. I'm sure he'll do well.

RUMOR: MARK WAHLBERG TO STAR IN A FILM BASED ON THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN

NEWSARAMA (read the article here) is reporting that Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg who collaborated with him on, LAST SURVIVOR are going to make a movie out of the TV show "The Six Million Dollar Man".

The Six Million Dollar Man was a show that centered around astronaut and test pilot Steve Austin who tests an experimental plane that crashes due to mechanical failure leaving Austin a "man barely alive." Oscar Goldman, the head of OSI (Office of Scientific Intelligence) decides that Steve is the perfect man for his special project to make a cyborg. Wahlberg would play Steve Austin.

Steve Austin is given cybernetic legs, a cybernetic right arm, and cybernetic left eye. He becomes an agent of OSI taking down criminals and special agents.

Lee Majors and Richard Anderson starred in the TV show that ran in the 1970's.

If Wahlberg does this then it could be his own superhero franchise much like Iron Man is Robert Downey Jr.'s.

THE NEW SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN??

Also instead of being called "The Six Million Dollar Man" was a lot of money in the 70's the movie would be called "The Six Billion Dollar Man".

RICHIE RICH TV SHOW COMING TO NETFLIX

Richie Rich is coming back to TV in a live-action series on Netflix according to USA TODAY(read the article here). Netflix has ordered the show from Awesomeness TV.

In order to make this series different from other previous incarnations Richie will invent a new green technology that will make him a billionaire.

There were other incarnations of Richie Rich including a comic, cartoon, and a movie starring McCaulay Culkin in 1994. In each incarnation Richie inherited his wealth from his parents.

Richie will be played by Jake Brennan (Dark Skies) and debut on Netflix in 2015.

This show will also be produced by Awesomeness TV CEO, Brian Robbins who has produced Smallville, One Tree Hill, and All That.

I grew up on the Richie Rich cartoon from the 1980's so it's nice to see another property being revived for a new generation.

CAPTAIN AMERICA 3: CIVIL WAR COULD SET THE GROUNDS FOR THE 1ST LEGACY HERO FOR THE MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE

Newsarama reports (read the article here) that the next Captain America movie will be based off of the event comic CIVIL WAR which pitted Iron Man Vs, Captain America on the issue of hero registration. Iron Man thinks it's a good idea and leads a team of heroes against Captain America and his team of heroes who are resistant to the idea and think that the govermebnt is attacking their civil liberties. The book was very reflective of the Post-9/11 atmosphere of the United States.

Disney and Marvel are in negotiations with Robert Downey Jr. to play Tony Stark/Iron Man. Chris Evans is already signed on to play Captain America. Most movie and comic book pundits will talk about how Iron Man vs. Captain America will stack up against Batman vs. Superman in 2016 but I'd rather look at another aspect of the CIVIL WAR showdown.

This movie could give Marvel its first opportunity to create a legacy hero. If the movie follows the course of the comic book then at the end, Captain America is assassinated and someone has to take the place of Steve Rogers. In the comics, it is the Winter Soldier. His character was introduced in the cinematic universe in Captain America 2.

Also introduced was Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie. In the current continuity of the Captain America comic Falcon will replace Steve Rogers when he gets drained of the Super Soldier serum by the Nail. This gives Marvel two characters to assume the mantle of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic universe. It also gives them a chance to have a legacy character which no other franchise can make a claim to at the moment.

The next Captain America movie could change cinematic superheroes as we know them and show how Marvel has built their movie universe so supremely over any other studio.
