SUPERMAN IS "THE MAN"

Superman in my opinion is the greatest Superhero in the world. Yes I know there were others before him like Zorro but Superman revolutionized the comic book industry because of his popularity. Superman is the archetype for all of the other superheroes that came after him. Now I'll give you the top 5 reasons why I love Superman.

# 5: The Uniform

I've always liked Superman's uniform. The red boots, cape and the "S" symbol all made me love the character at an early age. Red is my favorite color because Superman's uniform had red in it. The uniform is classic and I've seen variations on it but the red and blue always makes Superman's costume unique.

#4: Clark Kent wears glasses and was a nerd

Anyone who knows the lore of Superman knows that Clark Kent wears glasses and acts nerdy to ensure that people don't figure out that he's Superman. This was acted to perfection by Chris Reeve in the Superman movies. When you're a kid who has to wear glasses and feels subconscious about it, I always took comfort in the fact that Clark Kent wore glasses even though he didn't need to.

#3: The Powers

OK. Who wouldn't want to have Speed, Flight, Invulnerability, and X-Ray Vision? Right. Yeah the powers are awesome. End of Story. I know that the argument against the powers is that because Superman is invulnerable he isn't as easy to relate to as Batman and it's hard to find people to fight him but I think it's all up to the writers and editors at DC Comics to decide what happens to Superman. In the 80's John Byrne and other writers were able to devise villains that could knock Superman around even though he was invulnerable.

#2: Superman wants to help people

One of the things that impressed me the most about Superman is that he wants to use his powers to help people. Like an EMT, Doctor, Fireman, or Police Officer, Superman simply wants to use his powers to make sure people are safe.

#1: Superman loves his family and Lois Lane

Superman is an outsider. He comes from another planet. During the destruction of Krypton he loses his father and mother and is raised by the Kents. They give him his moral center and they encourage him to go out and build his own family. Once Superman meets Lois Lane then he believes that they can start a family because they both seek out truth and justice.

It also doesn't hurt that Lois is a gorgeous woman. I mean I like Batman but I'd rather be Superman and come home to a beautiful woman rather than a butler and a cold cave.

Well those are my top 5 reasons for loving Superman. Hope you enjoyed this blog.

I MISS SUPERMAN

George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, Tom Welling, and Brandon Routh. They all have one thing in common: They've all played Superman at one time or another. Most recently, Brandon Routh played it in "Superman Returns" and Tom Welling plays The Man of Steel in "Smallville." The real point of this blog is to say how much I really miss the Superman that I grew up with.

I can't say exactly when I became a fan of Superman but I know I was young probably 5 or 6 when I first saw Chris Reeve as Superman fly through the air. I was hooked and Superman was and still is my favorite superhero. I say "Superhero" because my hero is my mom for everything she's done and continues to do for me.

But Superman is my favorite superhero. Yeah I like Batman, Spiderman and Iron Man but Superman is "The Man" in my eyes. But as of late, the Superman that I know and love has not been seen for awhile. In the comics he has been saving Kryptonians from Brainiac, forged a new krypton, engaged in a war of Kryptonians and now he is walking across American because he's lost touch with the American people.

I'd like to give a newsflash to DC COMICS: The reason Superman loses touch with the American people is because you write him that way. Besides Clark Kent is the one people should connect to. If they only kept the course that John Byrne laid out in the 80's (Superman: The Man of Steel) then Superman would be great. At that time Clark was trying to find a balance between his life as Clark and as Superman. It was about as real and as natural as you could get for a comic book. He was a man of action who took control of his destiny.

It seems that now people are so into finding new villains for "Superman" to fight that they've forgotten about Clark Kent. You know the guy who is Superman. I know that most people would say, "Clark is the disguise and Superman is the real man" but I disagree. Clark creates the Superman persona so that he can have a regular life and help where he's needed. This is most evident in the pilot episode of "Lois and Clark: The New Adventurtes of Superman."

Even in today's television, Superman isn't the Superman we know and love yet. Smallville has taken 10 years to do what most Superman shows have done in a few episodes. Make Clark Superman.  In Smallville Clark has been indecisive, whiny, and sometimes annoying. But all in all the writers there do try to make him as heroic as possible.  Although the 1950's George Reeves Superman would bitch slap this Clark Kent.

I hope we get a Superman soon or at least in the next movie that has all the qualities you love about Superman: Decisiveness, Strength of character, charity, humility, and all the awesome powers.

In my next blog I'll go into why I love Superman the most.

THOUGHTS ON TNA WRESTLING FINAL RESOLUTION

TNA Wrestling is presenting Fianl Resolution on Sunday and I wanted to offer my opinion on three of the title matches this Sunday.

1. MCMG VS. GENERATION ME (TAG-TEAM TITLES)

These two teams have practically redefined pro wrestling and tag team action since they started working a program in TNA. Tag team wrestling is nothing like it was in the 1980's and early 1990's but at leat TNA is trying. I predict a win for Generation ME  just to keep the feud going.

I think that the next opponents for GEN ME should be the team of INK Inc.and hopefully they'll win their match at Final Resolution against Beer Money. If I know TNA, it won't be INK Inc. that wins and Beer Money will take on GEN ME for the belts. Hopefully TNA will be smart and build up their tag division.

JAY LETHAL VS. ROBBIE E. (X-DIVISION TITLE)

First off I don't like the gimmick of "The Shore" but Robbie E. pulls off the character. Jay Lethal is great in the ring  but TNA doesn't seem to want to give him a push for an extended period of time. Jay Lethal could have a great run with the X Title. I predict that he will win this Sunday.

MATT MORGAN VS. JEFF HARDY (WORLD TITLE)

I like the way TNA has built Morgan's good guy character as of late. The real-life problem of Ken Anderson receiving a concussion due to Hardy's chair shot gave Morgan a great opportunity to step into the main event. A place he should've been after he faced Kurt Angle in 2009.

I'm not sold on Jeff Hardy as a heel. I hated the way it came off at Bound For Glory. But TNA tried to re-create the Hogan turn from 1996 but Jeff Hardy is no Hulk Hogan not even if Hulk says he is. I predict Hardy will win because they need to keep Hardy's momentum as a bad guy going. Hardy's heel turn isn't attracting any attention for TNA so I don't get why they would choose him to turn heel at BFG.

In one of my future blogs I'll look at some of TNA's problems and how I would've like to have seen some things turn out. Until then.....

FIRST POST

This is my first post on my new blog. I decided to do a blog just to see what it was like and see if I liked it. So far So good. In this blog I will talk about two of my favorite subjects: Pro Wrestling and Comics. I just wanted someplace to write down my opinions and maybe even vent my frustrations. On this blog I'll talk about some of my favorite superheroes like Superman, Batman and my opinion on happenings in the comic book world. I'll also express my feelings on my favorite wrestling promotions: TNA and WWE. Thanks for reading.
