CHUCK: A LESSON IN FAITH

Image result for chuck tv show

This past Friday "CHUCK" aired its series finale. As I said in my previous blog I didn't watch the show from the beginning but I have enjoyed the last 3 years of the show and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the two-hour season finale.

My top 5 favorite moments

The battle between Chuck and Sarah
Chuck trying to use the dream house that he and Sarah wanted to jog her memory was wonderful. The flashbacks of the last 5 years were great and Zachary Levi showed great emotions in this scene. He really conveyed the pain and sadness that Chuck was feeling.

Morgan reminding Casey that the team is his edge
Morgan (Joshua Gomez) had a great scene with John Casey (Adam Baldwin) when he reminded him that by shutting out his daughter, Sarah, and Chuck that he hadn't regained his edge, but lost it. It showed the mutual respect that the two have and how much Casey has grown to appreciate Morgan.

Jeffster's rendition of "Take On Me"
I wasn't really happy when Lester and Jeff figured out the secret of the Buy More but the writers gave us a great payoff in the series finale. Jeffster singing "Take On Me" so that the bomb wouldn't go off under General Beckman was great and Morgan directing the orchestra was priceless.

Casey Hugs Chuck
Chuck and viewers were surprised when Casey decided to hug Chuck before leaving Castle and going after Gertrude. It showed just how far the big man has come from thinking of Chuck as an annoyance to becoming his friend.

Chuck and Sarah on the beach
I had mixed emotions about this scene. I loved the fact that Chuck supported Sarah and wanted her to know that she could depend on him. Chuck telling Sarah their story reminded me of "The Notebook" for some reason.  I don't know if the "magic kiss" theory that Morgan suggested works but I hope Sarah and Chuck will continue to be in love and happily married.

As I said, I had mixed emotions about that last scene. I loved the fact that the show ended with Chuck and Sarah kissing. As I wrote in my last blog that the magic of the show was that it is a love story. I was upset by the ambiguity of the ending. We see Chuck and Sarah kissing but we don't know if she regained all her memories from it or if they'll continue to be husband and wife.

I went online and read other blogs about the series finale of "CHUCK" and found one at smallscreenscoop.com that you can read here that reminded me that an ending can be ambiguous and doesn't have to give you a nice ending wrapped up in a bow because you have to have faith in the characters that you love. I have faith that Chuck and Sarah will be together. Sarah saw Chuck take a bullet for her, Their names were carved into their dream home, and he wouldn't fight her. Even if Morgan's theory on the magic kiss doesn't work, I don't think Sarah would have asked Chuck to kiss her if she wasn't feeling something for him.

I loved "CHUCK." When "SMALLVILLE" wasn't always great, the writers at "CHUCK" never let me down. Thank you to the cast and crew for making such a great show.

CHUCK: Farewell to a great love story

On Friday January 27th, "CHUCK" will air its two-hour season finale. When the series first began I wasn't a big fan. I thought a spy comedy would never work. Also, "The Big Bang Theory" was debuting that same time and I wanted to see that show more. I'd catch episodes of CHUCK here and there but I didn't get into it until the end of season 2.

By the end of season 2 there was a Subway Sandwich campaign to save the show and so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Since that time, I've been a fan and will miss this show.

The big reason to watch this show is Chuck (Zachary Levi) and Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) love story. In  an article on TVGUIDE.COM executive producer Chris Fedak describes the show as, "The show's a romance, I think that's what we discovered very early on in the show, that the moment we put Zach [Levi] and Yvonne [Strahovski] together, the show became about them. I think the Chuck and Sarah story is at the heart of the show."

With this romance CHUCK has attracted millions of viewers and a loyal fan following. I'll be tuning in on Friday to see how it all ends.

OLTL: Thanks for the Memories

On January 13th after 43 years, "ONE LIFE TO LIVE" will come to an end. As a fan along with many others, I am sad to see it go but I'm happy for all of the memories that it has given me over the years.

It was the summer of 1997 I believe, and I was flipping through the TV channels looking for something to watch and I came across a show with two people in a pool. One was David Fumero and the other was Erika Page White in a bikini. Yes, the real reason I watched OLTL was to see Erika Page White.

Erika is married to country singer Bryan White (He's lucky and he knows it) and they have two children.

Besides my love for Erika White I started to get invested in the stories and the actors. I will always say my favorite characters were Erin Torpey, Roger Howarth, Timothy Stickney, and others. My favorite time period was between 1997-2000.

I fell in love with the antics of Roger Howarth (Todd Manning #1). The innocence of Jessica. and the love affair between Ben (Mark Derwin) and Viki (Erika Slezak).

After 2000, OLTL was sometimes hit or miss for me. I will miss the characters like Kristen Alderson (Starr Manning) as she was also a favorite of mine.

I won't use my blog to talk about my favorite storylines or criticize the show as now it doesn't matter. I can't wait to see how the show ends this week. I'm excited about the future as I look forward to seeing these actors in future projects. OLTL FOREVER.
